Ivy 2
Meet Ivy Hietala

I am 87 years young! I have been an artist and craftsperson my whole life. When I was a new mom I learned how to sew and knit. Later I learned to card, spin and dye my own wool. I learned to weave on a four-harness loom. Later I ventured into doll making and even won a First Place Ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair. I made over 23 quilts. Most recently I have been working with polymer clay, making small animals, jewelry, magnets and finger puppets. I have even tried my hand at writing poetry.

Being at FCC has taught me not to be afraid to talk to people. I can share in the worship service and during the Sunday school class. What a change! When I was a schoolgirl I stayed home from school on the day I had to speak in front of class.

FCC is a warm, welcoming place. I have found friends here. I am sure that you will find them, too.
